About AME
A sanctuary of faith, history, and hope in the heart of Vancouver since 1918.
A Spiritual and Cultural Beacon for Over a Century
Founded in 1918 in Vancouver’s historic Strathcona neighborhood, AME Fountain Chapel is one of the oldest Black churches in British Columbia. As part of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, we are deeply rooted in a legacy of liberation, resilience, and faith. Our ministry serves not only as a house of worship but also as a hub for community advocacy, cultural preservation, and empowerment of BIPOC individuals and families.
Proud Member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church
We belong to the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church—a denomination born from a desire for freedom, inclusion, and social justice. Rooted in Wesleyan theology and the spirit of the Free African Society, the AME Church has uplifted countless lives globally through evangelism, education, empowerment, and advocacy.

Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our vision is inspired by the Free African Society: to seek the lost, serve the needy, and empower the faithful.
